Grundfos Comfort system

Hot Water Recirculation: Grundfos Comfort system ensures that there is always hot water available when it is needed and prevents water wastage resulting from the draining of cold water.

The Grundfos Comfort system uses the cold water supply line as the “return-line” to the water heater. A Comfort pump is used to create a pressure di` erential that allows the cold water in the hot water supply line to by-pass (at low volume) into the cold supply line through a patented thermostatically controlled valve that is mounted under the sink furthest from the water heater.

Comfort pumps are suitable for solar hot water systems.

The UPN circulator Pumps in stainless steel are specifi cally designed for household hot water systems, and solar hot water applications.


Meets requirements of AS/NZS 4020 “Testing of products for use in contact with drinking water”. No risk to water quality thanks to the main components being stainless steel (pump housing, bearing plate, stator and rotor can (stainless steel AISI 304)
Interchangeable with most of the installed bronze models (150 mm port to port - G 1”1/4)

Grundfos UPS & Alpha2 Household Heating

The circulator pumps in cast iron pump housing version are specifically designed for heating systems. For underfloor heating systems, it is advisable to use the bronze version, type ALPHA 2 B and UPS B, as the pumped liquid may often become aerated, causing an ordinary cast iron pump housing to corrode.


UPS can be operated at three speeds
ALPHA 2 automatically controls the differential pressure by adjustment of pump performance to the actual heating demand, without the use of external components

The Laing mag-coupled spherical motor design offers many benefits over other pump styles: it operates on extremely low input at a specified nominal voltage up to 24 volts; the spherical permanent magnet eliminates impellor slippage; the motor does not have a shaft is fully potted and has no moving parts; the pump has no seals; and both the drive and motor magnets have thick cross-sections that resist cracking due to thermal shock.  The brushless motor has a lifetime of 10,000 hours when operated at 12 volts and can be powered directly by solar panels, battery or other dc power sources.  The unique screw ring design for this series of pumps allows the changing of motors without changing pump housings.

Servicing the pump in-situ is easy with the unique screw ring construction.

A twist of the screw ring separates the rotor / impeller and motor drive unit from the pump housing.

Solar pump controllers


These solar pump controllers measure the temperature difference between the solar panels and the bottom of the hot water storage tank, and switch the circulator pump on when there is solar heat available to be collected. Some controllers also have 'frost mode' which starts the pump when the roof temperature approaches freezing, to protect the solar collectors from frost damage.
